The buckwheat is an important crop of Fagopyrum genus in the tribe polygonce ae belonging to the family polygonaceae. It is the not only cultivated species for food in the family.but also Buckwheat can be used as food, medicine as well as feed. The objective of this study is to assess the genetic diversity of buckwheat germplasm and relationships between accessions and their origins in order to generate useful inform ation for conservation and use of buckwheat genetic resources. This is the first time using SSR to analyze buckwheat genetic diversity.A set of 12 common buckwheat accessions in Ganau were analyzed by Simple Sequence Repe at(SSR),with 5 primers. In total, 24 visible bands were created,of which 15 were poly merphic, the percentage of polymorphic bands was 62.5% between varieties. Meanw hile,240 samples of the 12 varieties were also analyzed by Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR).In total, 104 visible bands were created,of which 33 were polymorphic, the per centtage of polymorphic bands was 31.7%.According to the dendrogram and sector by Figtree cluster analysis based on SSR data, the results of clustering analysis showed that 12 different commom buckwheat varieties could be divided into 3 groups. The average Nei's coefficient between varieties was 0.863,and the average coefficient within samples was 0.897.These results indicated that there is more abundant genetic diversity between 12 varieties than between 240 samples. In all, study on genetic diversity from Gansu using SSR demonstrated that between commom buckw heat and within commom buckwheat have certain genetic diversity and more similarity.
