FT-2.5 wind pump is a kind of green equipment to supply continuous and steady water from the wells with 5-15 meters water table. But it is not only inefficient driven by air, but had structural existence against strong wind (short service life). This small type of wind pump is beneficial to make full use of renewable sources of clean energy. Based on the above, optimization design and research aimed at the main parts and the whole system of the wind pump have been made in this paper to improve the performance of the unit and increase its service life.By analyzing the development of wind pump, the optimization of this system has been proposed. The optimization research on the wind blades and speed regulation has been made to ensure the reasonable matching, stable parameters and superior design in the normal working range.Through analyzing the current situation and operation of tested wind blades, this paper calculated the design parameters including the communicating wind structure of speed regulation, the bellow, the tower and the bump. According to the results, optimization research and improvement are made to make it work normally under various working circumstances. The design improved the structures of the pump and the leakage to solve the problem of high starting wind speed. As a result, start load is reduced. At the same time, the research on the appearance of wind turbine blade turns out excellent design effect and work performance which improve the reliability of the unit dramatically. The wind pump was tested on the reliability of the whole unit in NH-2 wind tunnel of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics under different external circumstances. The results show that the parameters chosen are reasonable and the tip vanes on wind turbine blade improve the start performance and obviously enlarge the working range of the unit.
