Gosling plague is an acute infection caused by goose parvovirus, which has higher death rate and has been one of the most serious diseases in goose raising industry. Along with the development of technology and goose raising industry, more and more attention was attracted to the study of GPV and its infection around the world. By the method of histopathology and ultrastructural pathology, this experiment was undertaken to study the pathological changes of 14-day-old goose infected with GPV and to elucidate the pathogenesis mechanism of gosling plague. The results were as follows:The time of pathological changes could be observed in goslings infected with GPV were from 1 day to 14 days post inoculation, serious pathological changes were from 5d to 7d, and the injured tissues and organs resumed gradually then after. GPV appeared a broad tropism of gosling tissues, the most serious pathological changes were observed in intestines, and then after was thymus, bursa of Fabricius, spleen, heart, liver, lung, kidney, brain. Some organs and tissues of infected gosling, such as duodenum, jejunum, liver, thymus, spleen, bursa of Fabricius appeared anatomicpathological changes at certain time of the experiment. In the level of histopatholgy, the small intestine mucous membrane epithelium necrosis, a large number of inflammatory cells infilatrated in and under mucous membrane, the structure of intestines was turbulent and demonstrated acute catarrhal enteritis. Hemorrhagic and alterative inflammation in bursa of fabricius and thymus and acute splenitis.in immune organs could also be observed. Structure faintness, rupture and necrosis of cardiac fibres, lymphocyte infilatration between them displayed in the heart, which could be regarded as parenchymatous myocarditis. As well as, interstitial pneumonia in lung, alterative inflammation in kidney, liver, pancreas, proventriculus and nonsuppurative encephalitis in brain could be recognized. For the ultrastructural changes, nucelus shrinkaged, heterochromatin concentrated or dissolved; mitochondria swelled and even became vacuolization; rough endoplasmic reticulum distended; the constitute dissolved severely in parenchyma cell.Generally, From the pathological changes observed above,, it could be concluded that the first target organ for GPV is epithelial cells of small intestine, GPV invade and propagated in mucous membrane of intestines and caused acute catarrhal inflammation first, then GPV got into other parenchymatous organs through the circulation system and presented broad pathological changes in certain organs relatively.
