Objective: Chicken coccidiosis, the disease caused by Eimeria tenella is one of the most dangerous coccidiosises in the poultry industry. Broilers infected of E. tenella will be seriously damaged in its intestinal mucosa, thus affecting its intestinal absorption of nutrients, resulting in lower feed conversion rate of chicken. Those factors can influence directly on the production and even result in death of chickens, and posed a huge economic loss to the poultry industry. This paper studies the recovery of the intestinal mucosa of chicken, infected with E.tenella, sodium butyrate in diets, so as to reduce the injury of intestinal mucosal caused by E.tenella was added. Methods: 360 7-day-old Avian broilers were randomly divided into 12 groups, and were infected with sporulsted oocysts of E. tenella by oral administration. Each of the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th groups gets infected with 1.0×10~4 sporulated oocysts, each of the 2nd,4th,6th,8th,and 10th groups gets infected with 0.5×10~4 sporulated oocysts, the 11th and 12th groups without infection were congtrol groups. The 9th and 10th groups were the control infected groups. The diets of the 1st,2nd,5th,6th,11th groups were added with 0.1% sodium butyrate, those of the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th groups added with 0.2% sodium butyrate, the 9th, 10th groups' diets were without sodium butyrate. Those groups of chickens were Feeding diets with sodium butyrate on the day when they were infected with E. tenella, the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th groups used the anti-coccidial drugs to control coccidiosis for continuous four days on the 4th day to after the infection of E.tenella .The body weight of the chickens were weighted every 7-10 days after infection since, then killing five of each group to observe the gross lesion, putting 3-5cm long of the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum respectively, and fixed in the 10% neutral formalin solution respectively and the slice of tissue were maded to observe mucosal injury and the recovery of intestinal mucosa after using sodium butyrate. Results: Sodium Butyrate can enhance the growth rate of chickens infected of E. tenella, lower caecum lesion scores and bloody dejecta scores, reduce mortality, improve feed conversion rates of chickens infected of E.tenella. The experiments showed that sodium butyrate can, to a certain extent, replace the role of antibiotics partially. Histological observation indicated that Sodium Butyrate can promote intestinal cells to grow, maturate, and maintain the normal morphology and structural integrity of epithelial cells of intestinal mucous. It also can improve the growth of intestinal villi, increase the length of intestinal villi, and plays a good role in the recovery of intestinal mucous infected of E. tenella.Sodium Butyrate, Broiler Chickens, E. tenella, Intestine Mucosa, Repair Effect...
