Serissa serissoides(DC.)is a species of Rubiaceae. As a Chinese traditional medicin, Serissa serissoides(DC.)showed antibacterial activies, protecting liver activity and antitumor activites. The investigation of Chemical components on Serissa serissoides(DC.)Druce were reported in this manuscript.Eight compounds were obtained from Serissa serissoides (DC.)Druce by applying many methods including solvent extraction, normal pressure column chromatography, vacuum liquid chromatography, dry column flash chromatography, gel liquid chromatography, recrystallization and so on.Their structures were elucidated by means of chromatography(including GC and HPLC),IR,UV, ESI-MS,EI-MS,NMR(including 1H-NMR,13C-NMR,DEPT,and two dimensuions NMR),comparisons with authentic compounds and reference data from literatures.seven compounds were identified as 5-Acetyl-6-hydroxy-2-isopropenylbenzofuran(1),5-Acetyl -6-hydroxy-2-acetonepenylbenzofuran(2),Diethyl Phthalate(3),β-sitosterol(4),Stigmasterol (5),(6)(E)- 1-(4-(1,2-dihydroxypropan-2-yl)-5-hydroxy-2H-benzo[b]oxet-2-ylidene) propan-2-one,Compounds 1,2,3 were first obtained from Serissa serissoides(DC)Druce 6 was first reported in our woks. One polysaccharide was obtained from Serissa serissoides(DC.)Druce beside the eight compounds mentioned above. This polysaccharide purified by Sephadex G-200 column chromatography. Its average molecular weight(MW=3000)was determined by gel permeation chromatography(GPC).The polysaccharide was composed of D-mannose and D-glucose by TLC and GC-MS.According to UV,IR,GC,methylation and GC-MS,the main chain of the polysaccharide consists ofβ-D -(1→4)glucose with branches ofβ-D-(1→3 or 6)-mannose and in which 1-linked Manp is terminal residues, linked to the main chain.
