Giant Panda, which is a symbol of natural conservation not only in China but in the world, is the special rear endangered wildlife in China. The pattern of Giant Panda was be chosen as the emblem of WWF, and it also became logo of world endangered wild animal protection. All these indicated that it was significant to protect Giant Panda. Habitat, the residential locus for creature, had a close relationship with the existence and development of Giant Panda. Therefore, the most effective way to protect Giant Panda was to protect the habitat. In the recent years, the evaluation and study on the habitat of Giant Panda becomes the hot issues.Located in the southwest of Shaanxi Provence and belonging to Qinling Mountain Range on the upper reach of Jialing River, the reserve was far away from the other nature reserves in Qinling Mountain. Connecting with the Giant Panda nature reserves in Sichuan and Gansu Provence, it was an only channel that connected with Qinling and Minshan Mountain Range together. But till now, the research on Giant Panda in Qingmuchuan Nature Reserve had not been started. So this study would provide a theoretical foundation for the research in this area. The main research results were as follows:①According to the field investigation data, special database of Qingmuchuan Nature Reserve was established by GIS software.②14 key habitat factors which influenced the existence of giant panda were analyzed .An indicator system for evaluating the habitat influence factors was established in Qingmuchuan Nature Reserve.③The core area and buffer area were chosen as the research object and single factor evaluation was carried out according to the indicator system. A conclusion was made from the result that: Seen from the single factor angle, most of the study area was suitable for Giant Panda to live.④Then the weights of all factors and the tatal sort of weights were obtained by AHP .And a comprehensive evaluation model was established on this basis.⑤Based on ARCGIS software, the habitat suitability had calculated and evelutaed automatically. Besides, the habitat suitability distribution graph was drawed and multi-factor evaluation was also complished. A conclusion was made from the result that: the suitable area covered the 57.14 percent of total area; the second suitable area covered the 30.61 percent of total area and unsuitable area covered the 12.25 percent of total area. So 87.75 percent of total area was suitable for Giant Panda to live.
