Studies On Lawnscape Of City Park In Shanghai

Green land of city parks is an important part of urban green system. And lawnscape is accounting for a greater and greater proportion and playing a more and more influential role. Lawnscape has become an dispensable component during the construction of material and spiritual civilizations in the country and local regions.Based on the special natural and social conditions, instructed theoretically by the knowledge of lawn and Landscape, with the reference of Shanghai technological rules for lawn planting, maintenance and management, the study chooses the lawnscape of city parks in shanghai as specific subjects, focusing on 12 representative city parks. With survey on site, and materials from the management departments of these parks, the thesis analyzes the current lawnscape of city parks in Shanghai in the aspects of the choice of grass species, the creation of lawnscape and the maintenance and management of lawn, and tries to put forward some conclusive results on the development trends of lawnscape in Shanghai city parks. Holistically speaking, after years of research and growth, the choice of the grass species in lawnscape of city parks in Shanghai has a stable pattern (such as C. dactylon×C. transadlensis, Z. sinica Hance, Z. matrella for warm seasons, and F. arundinacea, L. multiflorum Lam. for cold season). Unique features have been developed in the deployment of other elements related to lawnscape, such as other plants, architecture, hills, waters and paths. But there are still lots of problems existing in the planning, planting, maintenance and management of lawn.In order to solve these problems, the study proposes 12 specific advises which address respective targets, with 5 advises focusing on lawn planning and planting (including the compact planning of lawn, the optimum choice of grass species based on the prudent consideration of the environment for planting, how to enrich the ways of landscaping and so on.), 7 advises on maintenance and management (including establishing flexible plans of maintenance, increasing the frequencies of mowing, how to irrigate and weed more effectively and economically, intensifying the management of visitors and so on.)I hope these study and suggestions will be helpful for the further progress of lawnscape of city parks in Shanghai, so as to offer more quality enjoyment both in the aspect of material and spirit for common people.
