Selenium is one of the essential microelement of the human body. Selenium has high biological activity, it is a good antioxidant, it may remove organic radical of the body, and anti-tumor, radiation protection and enhancement of the body Immunity and other functions. Selenium deficiency can produce human liver necrosis, myocardial degeneration, pancreas atrophy fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, edema anemia, and reproductive function hemolytic diseases such as depression. But on the other hand, excessive selenium will cause poisoning, including skin bleaching, and finger nail deformation, anemia, neurological symptoms appear and intelligent change. It caused by Keshan disease in China because of selenium deficiency, in Keshan counties of the Heilongjiang and other places; Excessive selenium caused by selenium poisoning that occurred in Enshi city of Hubei and other places.According to the information published by the WHO, more than 40 countries around the world are low in selenium or selenium deficiency, the survey shows that China has 72% of the counties (cities) as the low selenium or selenium deficiency, only Ziyang counties of Shanxi Province, Enshi cities of Hubei Province ,and other individual areas are the rich-Se region. Selenium enrichment of tea is the natural ability of the stronger plants, in tea for 80 percent of the organic Se. So tea is the ideal natural source of selenium. In the vast tea, selenium-rich tea-producing areas and yields are very limited, so, in recent years, developmenting Se-rich tea Se has become hot.Wanyuan abounds in high quality tea, if it had developed, including tea, selenium-rich agricultural products, added a low selenium content of selenium areas, the protection of human health is of great significance. The study concluded as follows:1, Wanyuan selenium in the soil, on average, higher than the national average soil. Selenium in the soil in the biggest 1.74μg / g, the smallest 0.05μg / g, an average of 0.32μg / g. Wanyuan main content of selenium in the soil at 0.2 - 0.4μg / g range.
