The variance of the protein and oil contents of the grain and their main affectingfactors for the main maize hybrids are systematically studied in this paper. Results showthat the average protein content of maize hybrid grain is 9.723%, the range is 1.505%, andthe coefficient of variance is 5.28%; the average oil content is 4.524% and the range is0.917%, the coefficient of variation is 7.34%. Grain protein content varied betweendifferent locations reach 1.321%, the coefficient of variance is 4.41%; the range of oilcontent is 0.515%, their coefficient of variance is 3.70%. The average range of proteincontent under different densities is 0.845%, average coefficient of variance 3.208%; theaverage range of oil content is 0.599%, the average coefficient of variance is 4.935%.Compared with the range and the coefficient of variation of the above three, we hold thatthe relative importance of factors affecting the protein content is: hybrid>location>density; factors affecting the oil content is: hybrid>density>location.Difference of hybrids proteins and oil content is very significant. Danyu 13, Ludan981, and Yuyu 25, the highest protein content is significantly higher than other hybrids.Yuyu 22 the highest oil content is significantly higher than other hybrids. Hybrids are theleading factors affect grain protein, and oil content. Breeding and using quality hybrid isthe direct and effective way to improve maize seed protein and oil content. The maize grain protein and oil content in different locations are very significant.Experiment conducted in trial sites of Pingdingshan County, the highest protein content,is significantly higher than the other trial sites; the highest oil content in trial sites inPuyang County, is significantly higher than the other trial sites. Grain protein and oilcontent, apart from the quality of hybrids, are also challenged by environmental factorssuch as location, type of soil and climatic conditions. To find out the relations betweenenvironment factors and quality characteristics of the maize grain is of great guidingsignificance to the rational distribution of maize production and the improvement of thenutritional quality.Cultivation conditions such as application of fertilizer and density have a significant effect on grain protein and oil content. Properly increase the fertilizer is beneficial toimprove protein and oil content. The effect of density on the protein content and grainyield is on a negative correlation. The interaction of hybrid×environment is significant. By using the coefficient ofvariance of the maize grain protein and oil content, the stability types of the main maizehybrids are divided among several maize hybrids. Ludan 981 and Jidan 7 are the type ofhigh protein content and stability. Yuyu 22 and Xundan 7 are the type of high oil contentand stability.
