The performance of four quality characters of fifteen maize hybrids under eight ecological environments during two years was studied using near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS).The results were as follows:The study indicated that quality traits were different among the varieties. The variation indifferent quality traits of the same varity is different, the stability of the same traits in different variety is different. The genetic variation of maize hybrids quality is more than the environment variation,so the variety selection is more important than the selection of location. The differences of all quality contents in hybrids were distinct. The protein content of the four hybrids,HE-1,HE-2,Yudan 101 and Yudan 2002,was more than 11%,and the lysine content of them was more than 0.35%,and the differences compared with the others were significant. The starch content of the six hybrids,Zhendan 958,Xundan 20,Luoyu 1,Zhengdan 18,Zhengdan21,Jidan7,was more than 72%,and the differences compared with the others were significant. The oil contents of the HE-1 and HE-2 were more than 7.44%.The contents of protein and lysine were higher significantly in Zhengzhou, Luoyang and Nanyang than in any other locations. The starch contents in Shangqiu, Anyang were higher significantly than in the others. The oil contents in Luoyang and Zhengzhou were higher significantly than the others. The protein content was significantly and positively correlated with the oil content and lysine content, and the significant correlation between oil content and lysine content was also found. But the starch content was significantly and negatively correlated with any other quality characters.
