| Natural resources and ecosystem have been protected well since the National Maolan Karst Forest Protected Area was established. Biodiversity, ecosystem of Karst Forest and rare animals or plants have been safeguarded systematically. The Bouyei nationality, Shui nationality and Yao nationality in the National Maolan Karst Forest Protected Area are fettered in the face of housing, firewood etc. because they are forbidden to destroy natural resources. The little money of administering authority given to workers mainly depends on provincial finance. Hence, the National Maolan Karst Forest Protected Area is entrapped into a difficult situation.The local residents have accumulated a wealth of experience reflected traditional culture about man and nature in perfect harmony during the long struggle against nature. The traditional culture of Bouyei nationality, Shui nationality and Yao nationality in the Karst environment are abundant. The author gives a minute description that costume, architectural and cooking culture harmonize with natural environment and religious belief or folk regulations keep biodiversity. Maintaining biodiversity is in keeping with the aspiration of the local residents. For this reason, it is possible to protect the National Maolan Karst Forest Protected Area by the traditional culture. That would obtain public understanding and support.Developing ecotourism would acquire better outcomes. The ecotourism resources are rich in the National Maolan Karst Forest Protected Area. There are over 100 local residents who are participated in the ecotourism because ecotourism is still in an embryonic stage. The author elaborates the countermeasures that ecotourism is speeded up. In the light of present situation, it is necessary to enhance the level of participation, strengthen environment protection, coordinate the relationship between the local residents who are participated in ecotourism and the local residents who didn't participated.
