The Selection Of Resistant Variety To Rice Blast And Utilize

Wuling mountainous area is one of the key supporting depressed areas in china. It has a common boundary with Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou province and Chongqing city, involved more than 60 towns. The area is characterized by undulating hills, great difference in elevation. Most rice paddy distributes in the channel and gorge. The whole area is damp with less light, rich rainfall, much cloud and dense fog. Such microclimates cause all kinds of disease. In this area, single season rice is planted as the main crop with more than ten-thousand mu area every year. Rice blast is one of the major disease, which affect rice production. Because of the disease, the rice varieties have strong selectivity, short using period and fast updating speed. Under the nature conditions in Enshi, we have breed two rice varieties with blast resistance:'Qingjiang NO.1' and'Qingjiang NO.2'. This paper reported the breeding results, including their planting characteristics and techniques.In the compare appraisement test,'Qingjiang NO.1' had yield of 447.9kg/mu. Its yield stands the first place among all the testing varieties. This is higher than the comparison. In the rice area test of national Wuling mountainous area,'Qingjiang NO.1' had yield of 468.93kg/mu and 605.2kg/mu. This is also higher than the comparison, with better character, stronger blast resistance and moderate growth period.In the compare appraisement test,'Qingjiang NO.2' had yield of 626.1kg/mu. Its yield stands the first place among all the testing varieties. This is higher than the comparison. In the rice area test of national Wuling mountainous area,'Qingjiang NO.1' had yield of 553kg/mu and 578.08kg/mu. This is also higher than the comparison, with better character, stronger blast resistance and moderate growth period.The paper also systematically introduced the planting characteristics and techniques of'Qingjiang NO.1' and'Qingjiang NO.2'.
