Study On District Behavior And Planting Technique Of Three Novel Cultivars Of Avocado

Abstract/Summary:
In this paper three novel avocados Guikenda No.2 (G2), Guikenda No.3 (G3) and Guiyan No.10 (G10) screened by Guangxi Polytechnic were investigated on adaptability of trial planting and its district behavior in five locations including Mingyang Farm, Guangxi; Mingliang Town, Shanglin County, Guangxi; Sibao Forestry Centre, Huoshan City, Guangdong; Outskirt of Chonghua City, Guangdong and Outskirt of Simao City,Yunnan, with a contrast of Hass which is the excellent one planted in the broadest area in the world. We can draw the following conclusions:G2, G3 and G10 could grow normally in the five trial districts above. Among them, Mingyang Farm, Guangxi was the best one; then, Mingliang Town, Shanglin County, Guangxi; Sibao Forestry Centre, Huoshan City, Guangdong; Outskirt of Chonghua City, Guangdong and Outskirt of Simao City,Yunnan were in the negative order of growth.The primary yields of three novel avocados demonstrated significantly higher than that of Hass with a remarkably yield different level (a=0.01). G3 produced the most yield up to 4,357.84 kg/hm~2 with 784.33% compared with that of Hass; the next was G10 of 3,537.13 kg/hm~2 with 611.37%; and then was G2 of 2,215.64 kg/hm~2 with 382.96%. Of all districts, Growth, height and tree crown in the third years were more than 3 m except for that of Outskirt of Simao City,Yunnan with 2~3 m.Resulting of stress-resistance showed that three novel avocados could stand the coldness and no damage was observed during winter in the five trial districts. Mingyang Farm, Guangxi and Sibao Forestry Centre, Huoshan City, Guangdong were blast by strong typhoons and this resulted in remarkably yield decline, suggesting that avocado was not suitable for the district occasionally affected by typhoon.As for planting technique, in addition to the daily agriculture, more important work was focused on preventing rootrot. The planting plot should be located at a slope land with a good drain soil. After the location was fixed, no-tillage was carried out to avoid the damage of root.
