At present, in order to satisfy people′s requirement of meat quality, the work of porcine breeding is not only focusing on growth and lean meat rate, but also on meat quality. Researches have showed that SLC6A14 gene have influence or control on appetite by restrain nervus centralis of appetite. Therefore, it could influence growth and intramuscular fat. Three crossbred population including Landrace×Yorkshire (L×Y), Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire(D×LY)and Pretrain pig×Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire (PD×LY), were used as experimental populations. The study focuses on the growth, carcass quality and meat quality of commercial pigs, at the same time, PCR-SSCP analysis were used to study genetic variations in the SLC6A14 gene. The associations between genetic markers and growth and meat quality were analyzed by using general linear model (GLM).1. The results indicated that: PD×LY was the best on the average-day gain, the feed/ gain ration and the slaughter ration, and there were significant difference between (PD×LY) and (L×Y).The eye muscle area and the hind leg ration of(PD×LY)were 48.09cm2 and 34.23%, and it was the highest in three combinations. There were significant difference with(L×Y)(P<0.05), and not difference with(D×LY)(P>0.05). The meat color and the tenderness of(D×LY)was the best, and the difference was remarkable (P<0.05). The dehydration rate, the cooked meat rate and the tenderness o(fPD×LY) was the worst. The cooked meat rate and the tenderness were remarkable difference with other groups (P < 0.05). For crude protein , There was significantly difference with the others(P<0.01).It was not remarkable between the other groups (P > 0.05), The sequence of crude protein for three groups was PD×LY>D×LY>LY, and that of PD×LY crossbred reached 23.49%. The intramuscular fat of PD×LY crossbred was the lowest in the three groups, and was significantly different with the other groups (P<0.01), The D×LY group′was the highest, reached 2.92%, but was not different with LY group (P>0.05)2. According to the related sequences of SLC6A14 gene released on Genbank, specific primers P1, P2 were designed to amplify fragments including the G→A transition in exon ten and the T→A in intron twelve, respectively. Only one PCR-SSCP locus, designated as P2-SSCP, was discovered , and it had two alleles and three genotypes, that is AA, BB and AB. Sequence analysis revealed P2-SSCP locus was generated because of T→A transition in intron twelve. However, the G→A transition in exon ten wasn't discovered in this experimental population.3. The distribution of corresponding genotypes and alleles at PCR-SSCP loci was analyzed in three pig populations tested. P2-SSCP site was in disequilibrium in PD×LY crossbred and in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in the other crossbreds.4. The association between crossbred P2-SSCP locus and growth, meat quality were analyzed by GLM (General Line Model) of SPSS. It showed that the LSM value of crossbred and Growth was different(P<0.05), crossbred and the intramuscular fat, crude Protein, pH value were significant different(P<0.01). The LSM value of genotype and growth were different(P < 0.05), genotype and intramuscular fat, pH value were significant different(P<0.01). The LSM value of genotype AA was the highest at P2-SSCP locus and they had the topmost effect. So we presume that there are some relationshipbetween allele A and growth trait.
