The research used the sand culture to study the effect of sulphur on some physiological metabolisms, yield and quality of chamecrista rotundifolia , aimed at showing the effect and the mechanism of sulphur on yield and quality of chamecrista rotundifolia. Soil culture was used to study the effect of sulfur and nitrogen fertilizer combined application on yield and quality of chamecrista rotundifoliam, aimed at offering the theory basis on the rational application of sulfur and nitrogen fertilizer. The main results are as follows.1 Application sulphur significantly stimulated plant height, number of branches, length of branches and biomass of. chamecrista rotundifolia. When the S concentration (?)0.500mmol /LSO42- in nutrient solutions, plant height, number of branches, length of branches and biomass of. chamecrista rotundifolia decreased.2 Sulphur application increased the contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotene, chlorophyll(a+b) and the ratio of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b. When the S concentration (?)0.500mmol /L SO42- in nutrient solutions , the contents of the photosynthetic pigment decreased as the S concentration increased.3 Sulphur application enhanced the activity of nitrate reductase and decreased the contents of NO3-N. Sulphur deficiency could decrease the contents of protein nitrogen and the ratio of protein nitrogen to total nitrogen, while increased the contents of non-protein nitrogen .4 Sulphur application increased the contents of crude protein, fat, ash and phosphorus, while decreased the contents of tannin, ADF, NDF and lignin in stem and leaves. In addition, Sulphur application also decreased ratio of stem to leaves, enhanced the nutritional value of chamecrista rotundifolia.5 The proper organ for chamecrista rotundifolia sulfur diaganosis is leaves. Total sulfur could be used for sulfur diagnosis and the suitable ranges was 0.29%~0.67%. 6 Compared with apply of nitrogen alone, combined application of nitrogen and sulphurincreased plant height, number of branches, length of branches and biomass of. chamecrista rotundifolia. With the equal quantity of sulphur application, the biomass of. chamecrista rotundifolia increased by increasing nitrogen supply. Combined application of nitrogen and sulphur also increased the contents of crude protein, fat, while decreased the contents of tannin, ADF, NDF and lignin in chamecrista rotundifolia.7 The preliminary study suggested the optimum ratio of chamecrista rotundifolia leaves' nitrogen to sulphur was 8~9....
