With the increasing demand for the ocean resources, people become attach importance to the development of fishery. As a mean to detect marine biological resources, the fish-finder can show the user many informations about fish, such as: presence, location, distance, even the species of the fish. The research of fish-finder also meets china's offshore fishery development direction. There will be a huge market potential in it.At the beginning, the domestic and foreign development of fish-finder was introduced in this paper. Secondly, we proposed the technical features of portable multi-beam fish-finder, which should meet the design requirements. Then, the parameters of the system, the hardware platform design and the selection of embedded operating system were discused. The schematic design and hardware implementation of digital signal processing module is the core of the total works. It is composed of MCU(ARM) desing, MPU(DSP) desing, power management, the communication between ARM and DSP. Finally, the thesis describes acoustic target direction technical. The cross-array, with five sensors symmetrically located in the same plane, has been used as the central array for target direction. We also compare the Conventional Beam Forming(CBF), and Multiple Signal Classification (Music), and give the simulation data and results. The results of the simulation show the rationality of cross-array, and the superiority of Music method.
