Through long-term and short-term two methods to investigate the regulation of food intake by Methionine in Peking Ducks. In experiments 1, 144, 21-d-old Peking Ducks were randomly allotted to three treatments with replicates of six Peking Ducks with eight per pen.For treatment 1,2 and 3,were fed whith based diets and based diets adding 1%, 2% DL-methionine.Every treatment with replicates of six pens with eight Peking Ducks per pen. Food intake decreased in treatments with DL-Met(1%,2%)(P<0.05);Subcutaneous fat rate,Abdomen fat and Breast meat rate decreased in treatments with DL-Met(2 % )(P<0.05);ALT,AST,LDH and Insulin in plasma increased significantly and Alb was decreased in treatment supplying 2%DL-Met(P<0.05),In experiments 2, 42 ducks were randomly allotted to 7 treatments with replicates of six Peking Ducks with one per pen. Short-term food intake and the abdominal cavity injection were used in experiments to determine the regulation of food intake by Methionine in Peking Ducks. Short-term team were allotted to four treatments and each is hungry treatment ,intake 100g based diets after 24h hungry treatment, intake 100g based diets which add to 1% DL-Met after 24 h hungry treatment and intake 100g based diets which add to 2% DL-Met after 24h hungry treatment. Injection team were allotted to three treatments and each is inject 2ml physiological saline and 2 ml concentration of 1.65g/100ml,3.3 g/100mg the Met solution after hunger 24 h treatment. Bloodtaked in 2 h to measured plasma leptin, insulin, a-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, neuropeptide Y and blood sugar, uric acid, creatinine, total protein, albumin, triglyceride and NH3.The results showed that short-term intake high Met diet and inject Met solution only increased NH3.12 peking ducks randomly allotted to 2 groups and raise from 42-d to 45-d in in experiment 3.Record the food intake 3 days in experiment. Group 1 inject 5 ml 3.3g/100ml Met solution and group 2 inject same volume physiological saline.Record the food intake at the 2 h and 8 h. Bloodtaked in 2 h to measured uric acid , ALT,AST,TG and NH3. The results showed that injected Met solution group decreased food intake(P<0.05)and increased ALT,AST significantly. The overall results showed : methionine have effect on long-term and short-term regulation of the food intake in Peking Ducks, insulin take part in the long-term regulation, blood ammonia may play a role to short-term regulation.ammonia has played a certain role.
