In this research, sucking lambs fed with milk replacer of different protein source were studied on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, organ development and serum biochemical Indexes. The result showed: there were no significant effect between the control and treatment fed with milk replacer. The two milk replacers with different protein source had no significant effect.Experiment 1: Twenty one ten-day-old lambs (Small tailed sheep) were randomly divided into three groups. Lambs of group A fed with ewe milk as the control, Group B fed with milk replacer of milk protein, Group C fed with milk replacer of vegetable protein, feeding and digestion experiments were conducted during 80-d study. Results of feeding trial indicated : There was no significant difference among A,B,C groups in both body weight and body measurement. The carcass weight and dressed carcass percentage of Group B were significant higher than Group A (P<0.05). The feed conversion rate of Group B and C were 1.30 and 1.34 respectively. Results of digestion experiments showed: Gross feces and urine were collected to investigate the nutrient utilization and digestion efficiency at 30-33 and 60-63d of age. There were no significant influence on nutrient utilizations (P>0.05) between the two different milk replacer except.Ca and total P utilization and digestion efficiency of Group A were significant higher than Group B and C (P<0.05).Experiment 2: The trial animals were the same as exp 1. Lambs were slaughtered and anatomized to study the effect of two different milk replacers on the peptic and internal organ development .The result showed: There were no significant differences on the weight of whole stomach and each segment, rumen papillae number in equal area , the length and weight of the whole small intestine and segment, the intestinal morphology, the weight of pancreas and hepar, the weight of heart, lung, kidney, spleen, and the index of spleen among A,B,C, except the reticulum of Group B and the abomasums of Group C being significant overweight than Group A (P<0.05).Experiment 3: The trial animals were the same as exp 1. effect of the two different milk replacers on blood serum index were studied .The result showed: There were no significant difference in concentration of BUN, GLU, TC, ALP, LDH, CK, GLO and A/G, whereas TP, CRE, ALB of Group C being significant higher than Group B (P<0.05). Comparing with the control, Group B and C were significantly higher than Group A in TC, ALP, LDH, ALB and A/G (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in GLU between C and A (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in CK and GLO among A, B, C (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in TP between B and A (P>0.05). There were no significant differences among Group A and B and C in serum biochemical index (P>0.05).
