FMDV is the causative agent of FMD, a highly contagious disease of cloven-hoofed animals. The analysis of its particle crystal in 1989 provides a possible way to study its characteristics of structure and function. There are two Physical method can be used to determine protein's 3D structure: X-ray and NMR. Two of them have made a great contribution in protein's 3D structure determinations, but either of them have limitation themselves. To avoid the shortage of these physical methods, people developed different predict method that based on different theories. We take four FMDV strains, analysis their non-structure protein 3A primary structure, secondary structure and 3D structure. And make a statistic of the amino acid composition of the 3A protein.Second, through the internet severs PROTEINPREDICT we predicted the second structure of 3A protein. Then, we predict the 3D structure of 3A protein through the internet severs I-TASSER.Furthermore, we use software package PROCHECK to evaluate the rationality of the predicted 3D structure of 3A protein. Finally, the high degree of similarity of 3D structure was observed between 3A & PEA-15(A protein can induce apoptosis) by Internet server "DALI". Both of them have a similar a helix in first half and coil in last half which have great flexibility. Furthermore, "N-end" and "C-end" of 3A &PEA-15 were compared and the similar tertiary was found. It suggests that 3A & PEA-15 have the similar function. In this study, we predict tri-dimension structure of FMDV non-structure protein 3A, and then we predict and analysis the function of 3A due to the structural similarity between FMDV 3A and PEA-15. This study point out a important direction for FMDV 3A research.
