Entering innovative era of agricultural technology, the application and development of "precision agriculture" of precision management system of modern agriculture can excavate adequately potential of field, and utilize appropriately resource of water and fertilizer, and avoid pollution of environment, and advance quality of produce, and ensure continual development of agriculture. Therefore, precision agriculture is trend of agricultural development in the world. For site-specific crop management of precision agriculture, it is needed to manipulate mass and various data gathered from different data sources. Since common management information systems are not suitable to deal with these spatial distributed data, it is needed to develop a field level geographic information system, in order to meet the needs of field data processing.Driven by the needs for carrying out precision agriculture research, a field-level geographic information system was designed and developed, based on the study of spatial information processing techniques. In the paper a new kind of Video Mapper System with receiver of GPS was introduced in detail, called VMS200, its hardware and software were both referred, managed to collect boundary map of the field and images of wheat, the error of it was restored by using the method of sequential orientation to average. The method of systematic sampling was used to determine the contents of available N, available P, available K and seed yield, 1000-seed weight of wheat, according to the digital map. Some prevalent methods of spatial interpolations were compared by Mean Square Estimation (MSE), and Kriging method was chosen. Then the diversities of soil properties and yield attribute within the test field were analyzed by using geo-statistics. The soil property and yield attribute were studied using spatial distribution maps and semi-variogram graphs that can explicitly express the random and structure of them. The images of wheat were combined with these spatial distribution maps to research briefly in the paper. In the end, a field-level geographic information system (FarmGIS) was designed and developed based on Visual Basic6.0 and ComGIS-MapX5.0.The information of field can display thoroughly in the system. The system of FarmGIS can manage boundary map and information of field expediently. It can not only produce, edit and show the map, but also analyze and dispose the information in it, and make help for the accurate management and variable devotion to field.
