Psychology and behavior of rice farmers u sing pesticide are analyzed based onquestionnaire survey from 314 rice farmers in 11 towns of Taizhou Municipality.Themain results are as follows:(1)It is common to over use pestcides or use forbidden pestcides in riceproduction.The rice farmer have certain knowledge of nuisance free production, butmost of them Can not use pestcides according to rules of nuisance free production. Itis found that the age and rice planting acreage of farmer are negatively correlated withthe concern degree of pestside residual; while education level of farmer ispositively correlated with the concern degree. Farmers having other work experiencepay more attention to pesticide residual.(2)Neither the price of rice nor that of pesticides has significant effect on farmersbehaviors of using pesticides.Good pestcides supply and instruction services can makerice farmers have a good information and knowledge of pesticides, which influencethe behaviors of farmers useing pesticides. Proportion of rice sale is negativelycorrelated with rice farmers' attention to manufacture factory and the trademark ofpesticides. The better educated the farmer is, the higher likelihood for the farmer usepestcides recommended by agro-technology extension station will be.Farmers whohad other work experience pay close attention to the trademark of pestcides,andtend to use pestcides recommended by ago-technology extension station. Poportionof agriculture income in total household income is negatively correlated withpercentage of buying pestcides at ago-technology extension station and rate of buying pesticides recommended by pesticide selling office, while is positivelycorrelated with rate of buying pesticides recommended by agro-technology extensionstationand is "∩" shaped linear correlation with the degree of concern about thetrademark of pestcides.Based on the above analysis, some suggestion on improving farmers' bahaviorof using pestcides and developing nuisance free rice are put forward.
