| Chicory(Cichorium intybus L),member of Composiate family, is a perennial herbal forage. The proximate nutrients of"Puna"chicory on different growth stages was determined to evaluate the nutrition and feeding value in chicory. Yangzhou geese at three months of age were chosen and fed the same level of dry matter, the change rules of apparent metabolic rate of nutrients in Chicory as well as in mixed ration in which the basal diet was replaced with different proportion of Chicory in different growth periods were tested . Meanwhile, the metabolizable energy in"Puna"Chicory in different growth periods was also detected. The results indicated that:1. Chicory on the nutritive stage: the contents of nutrients in dry matter were: CP 19.85%,NDF 19.55%,ADF 19.14%,Ca 1.01%,P 0.52%,GE 21.658KJ/g,AME 17.650 KJ/g,TME 17.834KJ/g;the apparent metabolic rates of nutrients both in chicory and mixed ration were higher than other groups while substituted Chicory for 20% and 100% basal diet respectively. The apparent metabolic rate of P in mixed ration was better at the substitution proportion of 80%.2. Chicory on the pre-bloom stage: the contents of nutrients in dry matter were: CP 16.67%,NDF 19.00%,ADF 39.88%,Ca 1.47%,P 1.12%,GE 15.003 KJ/g,AME 12.938 KJ/g,TME 13.802 KJ/g;The apparent metabolic rates of nutrients in chicory and mixed ration at the treatments of either 0% or 20% substitution were higher than other treatments. The apparent metabolic rate of P was higher at 100% treatment.3. Chicory on the bloom stage: the contents of nutrients in dry matter were: CP 14.68%,NDF 55.43%,ADF 39.84%,Ca 1.07%,P 0.41%,GE 17.05 KJ/g,AME 11.922 KJ/g,TME 13.710 KJ/g;compared to other groups, when the displace rates with chicory and basal diet were 20% and 60% respectively, the metabolic rate of CP and P in chicory were higher; when the displace rate were 0% and 20% respectively , the apparent metabolic rates of CP,NDF and ADF in chicory were higher; when the displace rates were 0% and 20% respectively, the apparent metabolic rates of nutrients in experimental diets were higher as well4. Comparison of the feeding value on different stages: the nutritive value of chicory on nutritive stage was higher than that on pre-bloom stage and bloom stage, the nutritive value of chicory on bloom stage was better than that on pre-bloom stage. In general, the higher nutritive value of Chicory was obtained at the substitution proportion of 20%, particularly on nutritive stage of growth. |
