It has been the key to the question how to increase anther culture ability of indica rice and obtain sufficient numbers of green plants. In the present study, anther culture abilities of 32 materials were tested and effects of factors on anther culture responses were analyzed and then the inheritance of callus induction capacity and green-plant regeneration capacity during anther culture was investigated using 3×4 incomplete diallel crosses. The combining abilities and heritabilities were estimated in order to predict the possibility of selecting hybrid combinations incorporating both high callus induction and high green-plant regeneration ability by sexual hybridization of suitable parents. We try to develop an optimal strategy of the selection of hybrids with the best anther culture responses and increase anther culture ability of indica rice by genetic improvement. For two traits, callus induction and green-plant regeneration, one factor tested through variance analysis appeared to be highly significant: genotype, the other component, medium was not significantly different, and a highly significant... | | Keywords/Search Tags: | anther culture, callus induction, green-plant regeneration, green-plant yield frequency, incomplete diallel cross, combining ability, heritability, indica rice, javanica rice, javanica×indica hybrids | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
