Carcass traits, muscle quality and PCR-SSCP for MSTN gene of Cherry valley ducks and three lines of Peking ducks were compared in my study.1 Carcass traits,muscle quality of Cherry valley ducks and three lines of Peking ducks400 healthy young ducks were randomly chosen from Cherry valley ducks, Z1 line, Z4 line and cross-bred Peking ducks at the birth. Every breed (line) had 100 ducks and every sex had 50 ducks. They were simultaneously fed by the same feedstuff in the pen. Thirty ducks every breed (line) were weighed and slaughtered after 12h deprived feed on the 6th week.The result of carcass traits and muscle quality showed that the weight and the percentage of abdominal fat and the depth of skin fat of the Peking ducks were higher than Cherry valley Ducks significantly (P <0.01), but there were no significant difference among the three strains in Z-Peking ducks. Cherry valley Ducks'meat color were deeper than Peking duck. The cross-bred Peking ducks'hybrid strain water depletion capacity was the lowest among them, but Cherry valley ducks'meat pH value was the highest. The aspartic aid,threonine,serine,glutamic acid,alanine,cystine,methionine,isoleucine,leucine,phenylalanine,lysine,histidine,arginine and the total animo acid content of cross-bred Pekin duck's breast meat were higher than other lines in peking ducks (P <0.05) and Cherry valley. Pekin ducks'muscle fiber density was higher than Cherry Valley ducks, Cherry Valley ducks'muscle fiber diameter was higher than Pekin duck. The IMP and the total amino acid content of cross-bred Peking ducks is the highest. The experiment confirmed that the Peking ducks'capability of body fat accumulation was stronger than Cherry Valley ducks, its muscle fiber was thinner and denser, and it had better savoury. So the Peking ducks'meat quality was better than Cherry Valley ducks, and the cross-bred Peking ducks'meat quality were better than its parent line.2 PCR-SSCP for MSTN gene of Cherry valley ducks and Peking ducksWe collected the blood from 4 breeds (lines),they were Z1 line,Z4 line,cross-bred Peking ducks and Cherry Vally ducks. Every breed (line) had 30 samples. The result showed that two PCR-SSCP polymorphism sites in the third exon and the second intron of the MSTN gene were found.
