The Study On Alfalfa Planting Benefit And Countermeasure Of Alfalfa Industry Development Under Water Resource Scarcity Condition In Northwestern Area Of China

Under the background of water resource scarcity, returning tilth to herbage and developing the alfalfa industry, alfalfa plant benefit, the problems and strategies of alfalfa industry in Northwestern China were studied by investigating and comparing. The irrigation system, gross benefit, net benefit, irrigation efficiency, irrigation benefit and input-output rate etc between alfalfa and other crops in local place were compared and analyzed, some factors affecting the development of alfalfa industry and the reaction between the water resource scarcity and alfalfa.were also analyzed.The results were as follows:1,Under the similar soil condition, the net benefit of alfalfa(NBA) and others local crops in Jintai County, Yongchang County and Huachi County were compared, the results showed that: NBA was lower than those of the wheat, barley, maize and benne in Jintai County, NBA was higher than wheat in the river-irrigation place but lower than the wheat, barley in the well-irrigation place of Yongchang County, NBA was better than the wheat in the mountainous region but lower in the plain region of Huachi County. NBA were 2358.8 yuan/hm2, 6380.85 yuan/hm2, 6097.5 yuan/hm2, 798 yuan/hm2 and 1488 yuan/hm2 in Jintai County, the river-irrigation region and well-irrigation region of Yongchang County, the mountainous region and plain region of Huachi County respectively, NBA was the best in the river-irrigation place of Yongchang County, but better than the wheat in the mountainous region of Huachi County although the bad soil condition and 50% alfalfa hay was harvested.2,The effect of water resource scarcity on the alfalfa planted was very small. The effect of planting alfalfa on tilth in the water-short degree of local place was also little, but planting alfalfa on badlands pricked up the pressure of agriculture water resource, it would affect the sustainable development of alfalfa industry and others planting industry. The irrigation benefit of alfalfa in Jintai County, the river-irrigation region and well-irrigation region in Yongchang County were 0.29 yuan/m~3, 0.89 yuan/m~3 and 1.05 yuan/m~3 respectively.
