GIS is an important part of information technology and has an illustrious position in information society. Traditional GIS software cannot satisfy GIS applications completely, and it also cannot conform to the trEnd of software development technology any longer. So it is faced with severe challenges. ComGIS based on component development technology is a new generation of GIS, which expects to solve problems that traditional GIS have. After studying ComGIS, this dissertation developed a water resources management information system.The Exploitation and Research of the Water Resources MIS in the Xinjiang Ma-na-si River Irrigation Area utilize the integrated technology of Powerbuilder and MapX. The System inset remote sense vector data and GIS vector data in drainage area into client programs programmed, realizing the application of remote sense vector data and GIS vector data in water resources management of Xinjiang Ma-na-si River irrigation area, and realizing the integrated management of the texts and maps of the water resources survey data, and spatial analysis and map edit functions of GIS as well. The system, which breaks away the platform of MapInfo, can run independently.
