The experiments included two parts: studies on biochemical mechanism and genetic analysis of earliness but not decrepitude from antioxidant system(CAT ,POD,SOD) and the reason of soluble sugar in fiber getting maximal content from the relational enzymes in sugar metabolism such as SPS, SS, Ivr.1. A diallel genetic design consisting 6pure lines and theirs F1 populations were grown at the same field in Chinese Cotton Research Institute in 2004 and 2005. The experimental design was a randomized complete-block with three replications. The antioxidant enzymes MDA and CHL illustrate the biochemical genetic mechanism in the earliness-but-not-decrepitude varieties, and understand the inheritance of earliness and the main economic characters of the short season upland cotton. In main agronomic traits, with the AD model, the results indicated that leaves area existed significant additive effects., and they had higher heritabilities (N), seed yield, lint yield and lint index existed significant dominant effects. Boll weight and bolls existed dominant effects. Secondly, they existed significant additive effect seed yield and lint yield had higher heritabilities some earliness traits, such as the plant growing period(PGP), date of first square(DFS), date of first flower(DFF), and boll maturation period(BMP) existed significant Additive effect. The cytoplasmic and maternal effects plays an important role on anti-oxidant enzymes activity and its relative activity, when analysis by ADM model. 2. For three cotton varieties, Xinluzao6 and Xinluzaol3 come from Xinjiang cotton region, Zhong36 comes from Henan cotton region. Sucrose content, soluble sugar content, activity of the relational enzymes in sugar metabolism such as SPS, SS, Ivr indicated xinluzao 6 was fit to plant in henna province. In Xinjiang cotton region, the fiber of Zhong36 had the highest soluble sugar content, at the fiber initiation stage, sucrose content and soluble sugar content of fiber in the upper part were lower than that in middle and bottom parts. But at later stage, sucrose content and soluble sugar content of fiber in the upper part were higher than that in middle and bottom parts. About the relational enzymes in sugar metabolism, from the -1 DPA (day post anthesis) to the 36 DPA, the activity of relational enzymes in sugar metabolism was lower than that in middle and bottom parts. In different environments of cotton growing, sucrose content and soluble sugar content of cotton fiber in Xinjiang region was higher than that in Henna province at different growth stages.
