The paddy planting area was about one third of grain planting area in China. The harvesting labor time was accounts for about 24 percent of whole rice producing labor time. Applying the machine to harvest the rice is the most important process to realize the rice mechanization and the rice harvesting mechanization, so to design the advanced combine is very necessary and urgent in China.The advanced tracked combine not only need excellent trafficability but also had perfect steering performance. The vehicle whether had flexible steering or not , and its steering radius affected the vehicle using ratio, fuel consumption and labor strength ,so the flexibility and maneuverability about steering are one of the important technological indexes. The traditional steering mechanisms was used in tracked vehicles usually adopted steering clutch, which had much lower steering precision and complicated operation. But at present the majority of agricultural tractor still selected this method to steer, most typically was the tracked combine. Therefore, simple operation and stable steer was expected to accomplish with the steering mechanism.In order to improve the steering properties of the track vehicle, and in view of the problem that the land was seriously destructed by the combines when it was steering and the vehicle consumed lots of power, this paper systematically and comprehensively carried on the theoretical analysis to the tracked combine, based on the digestion, the absorption, the induction, the summary of thescholars' achievements, proposed one kind of new steering mechanism design proposal --mechanical dual power differential steering mechanism, and designed the testing platform according to the principle of the proposal. This testing platform was composed of electric motor, gear box, worm gear speed reducer, and steering engine, during the process used pro/E three dimensional CAD software to carry on the entity design, simultaneously carried on the theoretical analysis to it, obtains the revolution relation between the inside and outside input shafts when steer in-situ. Then carried on the kinematics simulation to it, in order to verify its feasibility, obtain the relational curve between two sides of tracks' speed, the entire vehicle speed, steer resistance moment and the steer radius.In order to verify the steer theory of the proposal, the steering mechanism testing platform was manufactured, the control circuit was designed, and the kinematics analysis was finished.
