The Studies On Mulberry Pests And Expert System

This paper researched on the taxonomy and biological character of mulberry pests and the building of mulberry pests control expert system.Totally 338 species of mulberry pests were found in China until now, belonging to 11orders and 71 families (including four families of Arachnida and two families of Mollusca), and containing a new species and two now synonyms. Most of the species were distributed among 5 orders: 93 species of Homoptera, 90 species of Coleoptera, 77 species of Lepidoptera, 30 species of Hemiptera, 20 species of Orthoptera.Biological character of 30 main mulberry pests were studied, including surname, host, damage, distribution and pictures of different stages and damage patterns. The recognition and control reference of mulberry pests were also provided.Based on the knowledge of field experts and the mature achievements of scientific researches, a multimedia expert system for mulberry pests control was developed by taking good use of Visual XF6.1. This system is composed of Data Base, Knowledge Base, Picture Base and Interface. The major functions of the system are to diagnose, to consult about mulberry pests and to generate suggestions about pest management.
