In this paper, the author has researched systematically the effect on growth and physiological of five willow clones with NaCl treatment under water culture. Furthermore, the identifying indicators of assessment the tolerance of willow under salt stress were selected objectively and accurately. The main results are described as follow:1. The rooting time of five willow clones is not affected remarkably under the low salt treatment. But with the treatment of the highest salt (0.4%), the rooting time of five willow clones was delayed; The root number of five willow clones under low salt concentrations (<=0.2%)was more than its under CK. With the treatment of high salt concentrations (>=0.25), the root number was reduced remarkably. The root length of five willow clones was promoted under the low salt concentrations, but was suppressed with the treatment of high salt. The fresh weight of root was decreased under salt stress. At the same time, the clones different, the root growth received the influence is different significantly.2. The sprouting time of five willow clones has not been changed under the treatment of salt. The shoots number and length of five willow Clones were decreased under salt stress. Along with time lengthening and the salt concentrations increasing, the suppression of the shoot growth was more seriously. Moreover, the shoot fresh weight of five willow clones was decreased remarkably by salt stress; if the clones different, the shoots growth received the influence is different significantly.3.The chlorophyll contents1,the root activity and The SOD activity of five willow clones were decreased under different salt concentrations; The relative conductivity rate, the praline contents and the MDA contents were increased under salt stress.4. The treatment of low salt have not effected the survival rates of five willow clones, the survival rates of five willow clones was different remarkably under the high salt concentrations.5. Tolerance index of five willow clones under salt stress was different remarkably. J842 has strong tolerance under salt stress; its tolerance index is 0.81 under 0.25%.
