Ten-year-old almond trees (Prunus communis Fritsch.) of cv.'zhipi', grafted on the'Taobiantao'almond (var. persicoides Schneid.) rootstock, was planted at the germplasm resource garden of Yingjisha in order to study the fruitlet growth and development and the content changes of mineral element and endo-hormone. The main results were as follows:1. The growth curves of fruit fresh weight, volume and vertical and horizontal diameter presented single'S'trend. There was three stages in the growth curves, the growth velocity of the three stages was the second stage>the first stage >the third stage.2. The almond fruit was developed from solitary carpel in the superior ovary which there were the border placenta and amphitropous ovule. The pericarp was made of epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp. The epicarp were made of cuticular hair and cuticular cell, and the mesocarp were made of parenehyma cells and vascular bundle, there were three distinct tissue areas in endocarp, the inner area upright elongated grit cells and the middle area tangential elongated grit cells and the outer area was equal diameter grit cells,the lignification gradation was from outside to inside. There were lots of vascular bundles in endocarp, the cell division stopped later in endocarp than that in mesocarp.3. Ca, Zn, Mn and Cu contents of kernel, and Cu and Ca contents of leaves, pericarp and putamina increased in the fruit develop period, Fe content in kernel and Zn, Mn and Fe contents in leaves, pericarp and putamina decreased. The relation between Zn, Mn and Cu contents of leaf and those of fruit was significantly positive correlation, Ca content of leaf and it of fruit was significantly positive correlation, the correlation of Fe content of leaf and it of fruit was not significantly.4.The IAA, GA3 contents in the dropped fruit was lower than that in normal fruit in the primor develop stage, higher IAA,GA3 and the less content ABA made contribute to fruit setting.
