With profile digging and layered sampling methods, the root length density, root surface area, root projective area and root volume of apricot tree in apricot-crop intercropping systems are analyzed by using WinRHIZO Pro2009a analysis system under the condition of oasis irrigation. The crisscross overlapping degree in the spatial distribution of absorbing root of apricot and root of intercrop is analyzed in the different age, different strains rows. Main conclusions were as follow:In intercropping systems, the root of apricot is mainly composed of absorbing root (d<2). The tendency of spatial distributions is consistent in root length density, root surface area, root projective area and root volume of total root and absorbing root of apricot trees. In horizontal directions, it is decreasing with increasing distance from the trees. In vertical directions, it is increasing first, and then decreasing with increase of soil depth.In intercropping systems, the range of the spatial distributions of apricot tree absorbing roots is increasing with age increasing. It moves to middle of roadway intercropping in horizontal directions and deeper soil in vertical directions, the crisscross overlapping degree in the spatial distribution of absorbing root of apricot and root of intercrop is increasing. The crisscross overlapping region of absorbing root of 5-year-old colonization apricot and root of intercrop is in the 20~60cm soil layer,0~90cm from the trunk; 10-year-old colonization apricot and root of intercrop is in the 30~60cm soil layer,0~200cm from the trunk; 15-year-old colonization apricot and root of intercrop is in the 40~60cm soil layer,0~230cm from the trunk.In intercropping systems, the range of the spatial distributions of 10-year-old colonization apricot tree absorbing roots is increasing with strains spacing reducing. It moves to middle of roadway intercropping in horizontal directions and deeper soil in vertical directions, the crisscross overlapping degree in the spatial distribution of absorbing root of apricot and root of intercrop is increasing. The crisscross overlapping region of absorbing root of apricot and root of intercrop in 6m×6m intercropping systems is in the 30~60cm soil layer,0~80cm from the trunk; the region in 3m×4m intercropping systems is in the 30~60cm soil layer,0~80cm from the trunk.
