| There are large amount of mountain cities in China. A mountainous city's unique fascination lays in its complex characteristics of landform and conformation of mountains and rivers, and the main roads in the mountainous cities express this fascination particularly and profoundly. The main pathway play a significant role in the mountainous cities for not only it provides people a comfortable and quiet space to walk but also improves people's lives. Because of the absence of local style and the lacking of system, the main pathway in the mountainous cities have to face an innovation in present day. The main pathway landscaping in the mountainous cities should also meet the need of traditional culture's spreading and sightseeing besides traffic transportation. The main pathway landscaping in the mountainous cities could not only suffice the favorable harmonize between the inside and outside, space and plant of the main pathway landscape design, but also need to solve the special problems that do not exist in the plain cities.In this paper, the characteristics of the main road landscaping were analysis in the mountainous cities, and the design examples, the Ba'nan District main pathway landscape rebuilding and Wanshou Avenue landscape in Shizhu County of Chongqing, were studied. The aspects of space configuration, road greening and visual aesthetics in the mountainous city road landscape design were researched, and the principles and strategies of mountainous city road landscape design were put forward. The results are as follow:(1) The main pathway landscaping in mountainous cities need a multi-level strategy, it is different with the two-dimensional space in the plain cities and should include the multi-level of the green space and the greenbelt area.(2) The landscape in mountainous cities is a space of three-dimensional, the design strategy of multiple viewpoints should be used in the design of the main road landscaping in the mountainous cities to consider the landscape of up view, overlooking and head up.(3) For the special landform due to the mountain, the design strategy of multi-orientation should be used in the main pathway landscaping in the mountainous cities, not only the flat beside the road, but also the tridimensional spaces, such as brae, wall of the building should be considered. |
