The highway planting can not only provide a safe and comfortable transportation environment, but also have the important meaning in terms of stable roadbed, road surface protection, beautiful environment, sand protection, and windproof against sand as well as the improvement in region ecological environment. As a growth medium for ornamental plant, soil quality directly relates to landscape ecological benefit. The botanical garden worker pay more attention to "green" above the ground, while fewer consideration to plant growth material base. Howerer, with the task target change from quantity to quality, the soil question gradually has also brought to attention.Soil fertility and the heavy metal pollution in the green space in Shanghai Pudong New area primary highway were investigated, and the improvement application experiment using the kind of improvement material to several kind of key plants, this paper conducts research in relations to soil factor and the plant growth, and finds out relations to the soil quality and the plant growth change, and explores improvement material best allocated proportion. This paper determines improvement method that suits the highway planting soil and the plant growth by contrast of long-term and short-term effect on different improvement method, appraisal to the different improvement method and calculation to the cost. With an aim to enhance the highway ecological environment quality and promote the sustained and healthy city development, the project provides the technical guidance to construct and maintain, improves plant growth condition and provides the theory basis for the Shanghai road soil quality management and improvement.
