| Crossbreeding has always been one of the main means of breeding new species by researchers. In Liaoning Province,Some good poplar varieties of crossbreeding has been widely applicating in production, and promoting increases of the poplars productive forces,P.×Liaoningensis,P.×Liaohenica,P.×Gaixianensis and so on.But our country has vast geography and varied of climate types,This good species can only promote application in south-central areas of Liaoning.P. simioniixP. nigra var,P. xxiaozuanica and so on which have better adaptability and very poor growing are adequate for growing in western and northern areas. This led to low production capacity of poplars forest plantation,and hampered to development of fast-growing and high-yield plantation. therefor, We researched on cold-resistancy and fast-growing varieties which are suitable for growing in northwestern Liaoning.This research has selected P. xLiaoningensis as the female parent,D189 (P. deltoides 'D189')which has cold-resistacy,fast-growing,good material texture and easy living from the coldest areas of Canada as the male parent of origin,using the manually controlled pollination,seedling selection,region cultivation experiment,demonstrate promotion experiment,fine character test in laboratory and so on,we selected new breeds which were named P. xdeltoides.'Liaoyu3'.It has several fine characteristics:①Growing speed of tree in Plantation Demonstration Site of Qijiazi town of Changtu city in the north of Liaoning province was very fast. The average DBH was 17.85cm in six years, the average annual height growth was about 3cm,which was 2 times higher than P. xxiaozuannica 'Changtu' in Changtu city. The average DBH of P.×xiaozuannica 'Changtu' was 8.9cm in six years. The average DBH of 7-year-old of Yu Yang Liao was 23.25cm, and the average annual height growth was about 3.3cm,which were grown in experimental forest in panjin City in the west of Liaoning province. The average annual height growth was 1.13 times higher than the male parent P.deltoides 'D189' and 1.2times higher than the female parent P.×Liaoningensis;②The Semi-lethal Temperatures and the cold resistance of P.×deltoides. 'liaoyu 3' were measured. The results show that, this specie can be planted in the plains region in south of 43°north latitude, the plant range of the female parent was pushed north 2°latitude, which filled the gaps of this area not suitable for planting Populus;③The anti-ulcer disease ability of P.×deltoides.'liaoyu 3' was just as P. xLiaoningensis,,which was more capable than P.×xiaozuannica in anti-ulcer disease ability;④The ability of P.×deltoides.'liaoyu 3' was better than the Parents in anti lapathi;⑤the P.×deltoides.'liaoyu 3'was excellent material in paper pulping and physical properties. The P.×deltoides.'liaoyu 3' can be used as material timber for paper and Building Materials. the selection-breeding success of P. xdeltoides.'Liaoyu3'is increasing new cultivated variety of Poplar. deltoides Bartr and solving the cultivated issue of no fast-growing Poplar. deltoides Bartr varieties in North and North-east area of Liaoning Province.lt not only enriched the variety of resources,but also accumulated new genetic resources of for Poplar. deltoides Bartr poplar breeding in the future.
