Seedlings are very important for vegetable production, the development, yield, quality of vegetable greatly depend on the quanlity of seedlings. The unreasonal irrigation method in the present seedling process not only causes water waste, but also does not good to seedling development because of water loss higher air humidity. Nowdays, erlite, vermiculite, peatmoss, rock wool are substrates which are usually used in seedling cultivation. In the experiment, a new device for seedling culture was designed and its function was checked, and at the same tome, the vermicompst, as a substrate, was used as a components of seedling culture to investigate its function in the seedling growth. The main results were:1. Because the selfsunk irrigation can provide cucumber seedlings with water, it significantly promoted cucumber seedlings growth in different fertilization treatments.2. The selfsunk irrigation increased cucumber seedlings growth under low temperature season in solar greenhouse compared to the traditional irrigation method, and the combined treatment of selfsunk irrigation and film mulch could further prompt cucumber seedlings growth by enhancing chlorophyll contents, nitrate reductase activity and root activity.3. The mixture with each other of peat, vermicompost and vermiculite had no significant effects on the height of cucumber plants, and significantly affected the accumulation of dry weight of plants. Especially in the treatments of peat and vermicompost mixture by the ratio 1:2。...
