Studies On Storage Technology Of Tomato Plug Seedlings

Studies on storage technology of plant plug seedling are the important content of factory nursery. The effect of temperature, package method and Brassinolide concentration on seedling quality was studied in tomato plug seedlings during storage, including the change of morphological indexes, physiological indexes and plant growth after transplantation, aiming to supply theory basis for the storage technology of plug seedling. The main results are as follows,1. The tomato seedling for experiment could be stored at low temperature and the changing temperature treatment was more helpful at the beginning of storage. The seedling quality after storage was mainly influenced by temperature and duration. Seedlings under 5℃ was damaged. The surviving rate dropped significantly and thrown away and seedlings under other temperatures for 15 days kept high surviving rate after transplantation without flower delay. The seedling quality maintenance varied with temperature and duration. Seedlings under 12℃ and 8℃ maintained better quality than those at other temperatures, such as morphological indexes, physiological indexes during storage, and plant growth after transplantation. The suitable temperature for tomato seedling storage was ranged from 8℃ to 12℃. The dry weight, leaf chlorophyll content and root vigor of seedlings under 15/10℃ declined seriously. The correlation analysis indicated that dry weight and chlorophyll content, which displayed positive correlation with surviving rate after storage , showed direct proportion to maintenance of seedling quality, and correlation coefficient were r-0.6796 and r-0.3967, respectively.2. The tomato seedlings could be stored with different package method. The seedling quality packed with foam carton and carton was as good as those stored in plugs.
