There were still some problems in upper leaf of tobacco, for example, the tissue structure was close, variegated color was heavier, the nicotine content of upper leaf was higher, the remaining starch was too much, the intrinsic chemical components was maladjustment, the irritation was heavier, the usability was low. Experiments were conducted to study effects of different mulching methods, numbers of leaves remained, the time of pinch the terminal buds and harvesting methods on nicotine, starch and chlorophyll content, economic properties and quality of K326, a variety of flue-cured tobacco, to improve the usability of upper leaves and seek the best cultivating combination, and offering the reference basis for improving quality and usability of upper tobacco. The results were as follows:four factors and mutual had remarkable differences in economic properties and quality of upper leaves. The influence of the D factor was the most, the B and C factors secondly, the factor A finally. In the choice of best producing condition, the factor D should be considered top-priority, the factor B secondly, then together with the factor C and D in the usability of upper leaves of flue-cured tobacco. According to the result of economic characteristics and chemical constituents in curing upper leaves, A2B1C2D2(straw mulching, pinch the buds in the 50% flower opened,22 leaves remained, curing with stem)is the best combination technical in the soil of high organic matter content or higher fertility.A1B1C2D2(film mulching, pinch the buds in the 50% flower opened,22 leaves remained, curing with stem) and A2B1C1D2(straw mulching, pinch the buds in the 50% flower opened,20 leaves remained, curing with stem) secondly.
