Professor Chen Min 's Experience In Treating Alzheimer' S Disease With Bushen Fill Lean

Senile dementia is one of the major killers threatening physical and mental health of seniors, gaining more and more attention in various countries. As in many developed countries, the incidence of senile dementia is gradually increasing in our country. Dementia is mainly comprised of Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and other forms of dementia. Currently, western medicine is unclear on the causality of senile dementia. It is generally believed in traditional Chinese medicine that the kidney essence deficiency, marrow deficiency, inability to transfer nutrients to the brain, makes the mind becoming unclear, causing dementia. Kidney and growth of marrow, is the foundation of life, kidney deficiency leads to movement of organs, the body unable to strengthen the marrow, gradually forming the disease. For thousands of years, this theory is used to guide clinical studies and especially concentrating primarily on kidney treatment for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as senile dementia has achieved outstanding results. Through Professor Chen Min’s research from her many years experience, this paper emphasizes the aspect of kidney deficiency in describing the importance of kidney treatment strengthening marrow and in turn treating senile dementia. This paper combines the developments in senile dementia from both Chinese and western medicine, and dissects the similarities and differences in treatment of this disease as well as advantages and disadvantages from both views points. Part of traditional Chinese medicine mainly embodies the theoretical origin of kidney treatment for senile dementia, through a summary of the ancient and modern medical experiences, detailing senile dementia from the view of the basics and theories of kidney and marrow treatment. Finally, using a typical case of senile dementia treated by Professor Chen Min, from a patient’s condition to the whole treatment process, elaborating in detail the diagnosis, treatment and follow up processes, etc.
