| In today’s society, cardiovascular system diseases have become athreat as the first killer of human health, and coronary heart disease(CHD) is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases. Coronary heartdisease is a set of clinical syndrome marked by coronary atherosclerosisresulting in vascular cavity stenosis or occlusion, or myocardialischemia caused by coronary artery functional changes of oxygen ornecrosis. It is in the TCM category of “obstructionâ€,“heart painâ€and“severe heart painâ€, characterized by the manifestation of myocardialischemia, and hypoxia caused by the angina symptoms. In recent years, withthe improvement of people’s living standard, the change of workingenvironment, speeding up life pace, the unhealthy diet structure, and theaging of population, people are more and more exposed to the risk ofdiseases, among which heart disease has become the first killer, especially in the group of aged people. The location of coronary heart disease and angina pectoris is in theheart, and the pathological changes are marked by the disorder of qi, blood, yin and yang in the blood and vessels of the heart, phlegm stagnation andimpediment. The five-zang viscera operate as an integrated system withinterrelated components. Their pathogenesis is closely associated withthe liver, kidney, spleen and stomach, especially with the spleen andstomach. Because they are not only the foundation for human acquisitionafter birth, the sea of water and food, but also the source of qi-bloodgeneration and transformation, and the ascending and descending pivot ofqi movement. The physiological connection between the spleen and heartis through meridians, five elements, their complementary functions, and mutual causes in ascending and descending. Their pathologicalrelationship is manifested in the deficiency in generating, transforming, nurturing blood, as well as in the dysfunction of circulating andgoverning blood. Therefore, regulating the spleen and stomach is a greatpractice for the treatment of coronary heart disease angina pectoris. The heart and spleen, as the mother-child dependent viscera, supplement each other’s qi and blood, connect via meridians, and restrictmutually via yin and yang. The treatment of CHD is based on thedifferentiation of the spleen and stomach in the middle energizer; andthe purpose of removing chest impediment is realized by invigoratingmiddle energizer yang, dispelling cold pathogen in the chest, orregulating qi movement. This reflects the principle of “treatment musttarget at root causes†in Traditional Chinese Medicine. |
