As a modern megalopolis, Shanghai has made the striking achievement in thefield of the health care in the past years, which has greatly boosted the socialdevelopment and maintained the basic social suitability. However, because of thelack of government subsidy, hospital has to collect money from the drug withunreasonable price, thus causing a series of problems and conflicts between thepatients and doctors. Fortunately, Shanghai is adopting and piloting a new medicalsystem reform in four newly built hospitals. All these measures aim at cutting theinterest chain between doctor, hospital and medicine seller and ultimately put thedrug price to an affordable level for the most of the patients. This popular job isexpected to abolish the phenomenon of so called feeding the hospital with high drugcharges and eventually reduce the patients’ heavy burden of medicine. This paper is based on analyzing the profit data of the four hospitals duringthe trial operation and trying to find out how the new adoptions affect the run of thehospital. And then, the author will propose several suggestions and opinions aftercomparing the relevant hospital reform in Japan such as paying the prescriptioncharges for doctors for their laboring and encourage the patient to get the prescribedmedicine from the outside drug store. Only all these positive measures wellimplemented, would the separation of clinic from pharmacy ultimately benefit all thepatient and promote the sustainable medical and health development in Shanghai.
