A Study On The Pollen Morphology Of Osmanthus Fragrans In Sichuan

Pollen morphology of 46 varieties in Osmanthus fragrans is examined with SEM. The results indicate that, (1) there are general character in pollen polarity, pollen shape and style of sexine sculpture, namely the pollen gains were heteropolar; 3-labed rounded in AMB; N3P4C5 according to the NPC system classification; with reticulate ornamentation; all pollen approaches spheroidal, and so on. This indicate that, the Osmanthus fragrans variety was natural class group with close blood relationship relations, supporting in the homogeneity of Osmanthus fragrans in the traditional classification. (2) There are significant differences in sizes, sexine ornamentation, germinators and so on, displays the obvious non-uniformity, these differences indicate Osmanthus fragrans have the rich heredity multiplicity, In unifies other characteristics in the situation, these microscopic shapes differences have the certain systematic significance to varieties division. Using these heredity multiplicities may cultivate the new Osmanthus fragrans varieties, through breeding technology, crossbreeding, tissue culture, heredity transformation and so on. (3) Pollen of partial varieties contain two either three kind of sexine ornamentation or shape, the overlapping phenomenon in population explain these varieties' evolves is not possibly the sole linear relations. (4) The different front processing method and the gathering time have affects on the pollen shape, therefore the material gathering time and the first processing method should be unified as far as possible.The results of Main Component Analysis showed that the importance ranking of criteria is followings: Length of polar axis, Length of equator axis, L/P, P/E, Shape, Germinators, Symmetrical degree of aperture's size, Length of clopus, Width of clopus, Frequency of aperture, Width of lirae, Style of exine ornamentation, and so on. The general important characteristics are pollen size , pollen shape, characteristic of exine ornamentation and germinater.46 varieties were divided into five groups according to the results of the Cluster Analysis.
