| Whip grass (Hemarthria compressa) is one of the most important forage grass and very important for the animal industry in south china. It is very significant of the multiplant of whip grass with legumes for the high productivity , quality, and suitability. The trial was conducted at the field of Sichuan Agricultural University, Ya'an city, Sichuan Province. In the trial, whip grass Guangyi and White clover (Triflium repen) Ladinno were studied in the changes of yield , quality, and factors of community by 16 treatments combined by 3 factors (cutting frequency, the level of N fertilizer application and seeding ratio of legume / grass ) and 4 levels. After 4 years research (from 2002 to 2005), the results showed :1. The yield of treatment 4 ( cutting 4 times per year, application N 1.2t/hm~2.a, and ratio of white clover to whip grass is 1:4) was the highest with average yield 28.7901 t/hm~2.a, higher than the yields of lower cutting groups (4 and 5 cutting times treatments) significantly. Cutting frequency was the main factor to affect the yield of the mixed grasses comparing with the other two management factors, the level of N fertilizer application and seeding ratio of legume /grass, which had little significant effect on the yield. With the cutting times increased , the yield of dry matter decreased.2. The percent of crude protein (CP) of treatment 12 (cutting 4 times per year, application N 1.2t/hm~2.a, and ratio of white clover to whip grass is 1:2) was the highest with average content of 21.138%, was 149.01% higher compared with treatment 3, CP 8.489% , the lowest content of CP . CP of all treatment groups increased 0.001-8.128% as time passed by, treatment 14( cutting 7 times per year, application N 0.6 t/hm~2.a, and ratio of white clover to whip grass is 1:3) increased the highest with the rate of 58.97% among the 16 treatments. |
