Using the method of morphology classification, 13 agricultural characters of 42 melon germplasm resources were clustered to study their phylogenetic relationship. Results showed that the experimental resources could be classified into six subgroups which expressed congruence with the botanical classification. This experiment selected eight inbred lines of seed oriental melo(Cucumis melo sp.Conomon) which depends on the result of cluster analysis. The experiment copulation was designed with the complete diallel cross, through the methods of quantitative genetics, such as analysis of combining ability, analysis of heterosis and analysis of correlation, studies on combining ability of the main quantitative characters on F1 of seed squash. It offers materials and theoretical basis for Cucumis melo sp.Conomon.The analysis of combining ability effect indicates, there are differences in different parents to every character on general combining ability effective value, and there are differences in same parents to different character on general combining ability effective value. This difference offer possibility to identify and choose fine inbred lines. The same character's special combining ability effective value vary with different crosses, and the same crosses vary with different characters. This difference offer possibility to identify and choose fine crosses. Among the experimental parents, 03HT-2, Da Xiangshui and Te dafengtian are more preferential than the others on each characters. In the hybridized combinations, GCA value of 1×2, 1×4, 2×8 on each characters are higher than the other combinations. The analysis of heritability indicates, single fruit weight, number of fruit per plant, fruit horizontal diameter, SSC, content of total sugar have high broad-sense heritability, but their narrow-sense heritability is low, so it is better to use superior breeding. Both of the broad-sense heritability and narrow-sense heritability of fruit shape index and fruit vertical diameter are high, so it shows that this two characters can be heredity to the descendants steadily. The analysis the trend of heterosis indicates, main quantitative characters of Cucumis melo sp. Conomon exist general heterosis. The yield and yield characters had higher positive heterosis, but the quality character had higher negative heterosis. The analysis of heterosis shows, combination 1×2, 1×4,...
