| The experiment was conducted to study effects of chicken manure and straw returned to field on carbon and nitrogen metabolism, chemical components and economic properties of K326, the major flue-cured tobacco variety in Fujian. The purpose was to find out their regulation mechanism and their optimum combination of good tobacco leaf quality. The results were as follows:Nicotine contents in root reached their peaks after transplanting 75 days. Those in stem of straw returned to field also reached their peaks after transplanted 75 days, 30 days ahead of straw not returned. Nicotine contents in the whole leaves accumulated rapidly 60 days after transplanted then reached their peak in 105 days. Total nitrogen in root, stem and leaf decreased during the whole growth stage. Nitrogen metabolism was carried out in the treatment of straw returned to field 60 days after transplanted . The photosynthesis products contributed to the growth of the stem and leaves. It could also transfer to carbon metabolism after budding, hamonize the carbon and nitrogen metabolism and obtain high quality tobacco. Straw returned to field could increase nicotine content in upper leaves while decrease that in lower and middle leaves. It could increase total sugar, reducing sugar, ratio of total sugar to protein and ratio of total sugar to nicotine content in leaves of all stalk positions. It could decrease protein, potassium, ratio of potassium to chlorine content in lower leaves while increase potassium in upper leaves and ratio of potassium to chlorine content in middle, upper leaves. It also could increase ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine in lower leaves. It could improve output, average price and high-middle-quality ratio, therefore improve output value and net income.Under the same nitrogen fertilizer application levels, different sources of nitrogen had significantly effects on nicotine contents, total nitrogen in root, stem and leaf and the hamony of carbon and nitrogen metabolism. The accumulation of nicotine contents, total nitrogen, and carbon and nitrogen metabolism in different nitrogen forms had the same change rules with those of straw returned to field or not. Nutrion conditions and carbon and nitrogen metabolism could be improved along with the increase of chicken manure amount. Different fertilizer blending had different chemical components: seseameseed cake could increase nicotine, ratio of potassium to chlorine in leaves of all stalk position, protein, total nitrogen in middle and lower leaves. Pure fertilizer could increase total nitrogen, protein in lower leaves. Chicken manure could increase total sugar, ratio of total sugar to nicotine content in lower and upper leaves, reduce sugar in upper leaves compared with pure fertilizer.
