The requirement of super fine wool is being increased steadily in wool textile industry presently. For adapting to the change of market well, the breeding and production of fine wool sheep is being inclined to decrease the fiber diameter.Chinese Merino Poll Type had been bred successfully with method of introducing hybridization and open nucleus breeding system in Xin Jiang Ba Zhou Stud Farm from 1990 to 1995. The Poll trait of Chinese Merino Poll Type could be transmitted stably. The hom trait of Chinese Merino Poll Type was detected in 1995, the Poll rate was 97.14% for kidlet and 94.71% for male kidlet respectively among 3252 kedlets. The means of the staple length, the clean fleece weight and the live weight of adult was 9.62 cm, 3.13kg, 43.22 kg respectively in 1995, which was 8.66cm, 2.52kg, 40.29kg respectively in 1990, and the staple length, the clean fleece weight, and the live weight of yearling was also increased to 11.37 cm, 3.06 kg, 40.5 kg in 1995 from 10.0cm, 2.56kg,29.05 kg inl990.Good Quality Fine Sheep(Poll Type), which was based on Chinese Merino Poll Type(Xin Jiang type), had been bred successfully with method of introducing hybridization and open nucleus breeding system in Xinjiang BaZhou Stud Farm from 2000 to 2004. The breeding method was used in the sheep population according with criterion of Chinese Merino, without horn and with less than 21.5 um fiber diameter. As the statistic result, the average fiber diameter of adult, yearling rams and yearling ewes is 20.39,19.64> 19.85um respectively, the average staple length of them is 8.95> 11.85% 11.56 um respectively, the clean fleece weight of them is 3.05, 3.67, 3.08kg, and the live weight after fleecing is 43.67, 57.77, 42.3 kg respectively. Comparing with the statistic result of 2000, the fiber diameter was reduced markedly, the phenotype value of the other three items was reduced in some degrees. The project of good quality fine sheep (Poll Type) had been was carried out for 3 generations, and nowadays, the existing basic population include 2000 ewes and 30 rams.The identification criterion (tryout) of Good Quality Fine Sheep (Poll Type)and the identification items and symbols with brilliant characteristic, which could be simply operated and prone to mast and extend, was an effective method of breeding Good Quality Fine Sheep(Poll Type). The heritability of the fiber diameter, the staple length, the clean fleece weight and the live weight of Good Quality Fine Sheep(Poll Type) was 0.62, 0.45, 0.36, 0.46, respective by the genetic correlation between the fiber diameter and staple length, fleece weight, live weight after fleecing is 0.22 ~ 0.30 respectively.The progeny test indicated that the improvement of the fiber diameter of the basic population with introducing Fine Australian Merino Poll Type was obvious and the expected objecte was obtained.The fine Sheep ewes of Yanqi County, Bohu County, Bazhou State breeder fanner were breed with The breed rams of this project to improve the fleece weight and the fiber diameter of the native fine sheep. 600 rams had been breed, and 300,000 native fine sheep were breed. The increased fleece weight covering with this project is 184,000 kg, and the total good quality "Sapal"fleece weight is 234,200 kg.
