This mutagenic study of Hericium erinaceus by ion beam tries to prove that it is different from other mutagenic agent when ion beam is used for domestic fungus mutation breeding and provide a reference foundation data for using the ion beam in other domestic fungus. Based on the outcome of the study, it is hoped to confirm a new, advisable, physical mutagen for domestic fungus mutation breeding. The growth speed of the Hericium erinaceus hypha is observed and analyzed after N+ ion implantation within the range from 1×1015N+/cm2 to 8×1016N+/cm2. The result shows the growth speed of Hericium erinaceus hypha presents an "M shape" curve, namely, the growth speed rises, then descends, again rises and again descends. It is also found that the pulse time obviously influences the effect of N+ ion implantation. When the time increases, the growth speed of Hericium erinaceus hypha presents a "saddle shape" curve, which means that the growth speed descends first, rises then and descends again.Six variation strains whose growth speeds are higher than that of control are obtained through this study. Measuring their polysaccharide contents and their total amino acid contents, it is found that the polysaccharide content and the total amino acid content are also higher than that of control, and that the relation between the polysaccharide contents and the growth speeds are of positive correlation...
