| DHI is the abbreviation of the English title Dairy Herd Improvement, which means through testing the basis in the milk, including the various index like: the ratio of milk fat, ratio of milk albumen, substance cell number, lactose.dry substance and combining the basic data including every milch cow's date of giving birth to her calf.the times, age,daily output and cowhouse,etc. as a result of the test as well as making use of computer technic to bring forth all kinds of analyzing reports, the systematic, complete and scientific suggestion and measures will be offered to the cattle farms to enhance their economic benefit.As the effective tool for the feeding and management of the cattle farm, DHI has been applied in the milch cow indusry abroad for over 50 years and is still being used. Some countries that are well developed in their milch cow industry such Canada, the United Stetes, Holland, Japan and Sweden all have some similar specialized organizations used to take charge in the mensuration of DHI and offer helf for the milk consumers. DHI has become the trend of international milch cow development and also supplied improving direction and measure for increasing production to the development of milch cow industry.DHI system in China was set up in 1994 and was founded as milk inspection and survey center labs in Shanghai, Xi'an and Hangzhou respectively through the cooperation of Sino-Canada milch cow synthetical breeding item and our relevant organizations. Canada provided theequipment for inspection and survey, computer and technical softwar as well as personnel training for free and our correlative institution corresponded and organized the cattle farms to join in. So far, it has developed for over ten years, during which great and delightful success has been achieved in Chinese history in milk industry and quite a lot of milk farmers have gained unexpected extra profit from it. From the circumstance that several leading cattle farms applied DHI system, after using DHI system, the average daily output of the improved cattle herd has reached from 8000 to 9000 kilogram and the milk component has also been improved accordingly. Since our region carried out this research, the number of milch cow involved in the inspection and survey has reached to over 30,000. After choosing over 10,000 milch cow to check through collected samples on the spot and make following-up survey about their performance of production, the result turned out to be very satisfying. The daily output of each milch cow has enhanced from 19.79 kilogram in the past to 22.79 kilogram at present. As to the improvement for the ratio of milk fat, it is more obvious and has been enhanced to 3.49 % from 3.18% in the past, which can be regarded as the highestlevel in China.Through the inspection and survey of the milch cow sec. The sec has been reduced to 349.000 in average at present from original 1000,000, which also brought out the decrease of the incidence of a disease for the milch cow recessive mastitis to 5 % from original 20 %. sec has direct relationship with the loss of milk quantity. During the course of testing, we found that many cattle farmers paid little attention to the environmental sanitation and breeding technique. As a result, the content of sec was much beyond the standard and the economic loss on each cattle can reach to 880 to 1440 RMB per year, which severely influenced the breeding income of milk farmers.The innovation of DHI is that it acquires specific true data and offers it to the computer and after the analysis through computer software, we can draw a big amount of information which we need to solve during the pruduction and management, which can give timely feedback to the breeding field. In this way, the practical problems in the breeding and management can be corrcted in time and the breeding level can be enhanced as well, which also enhance the fresh milk'quality and the quantity in all cattlefields; at the same time, the problems that existed in those cattle fields that joined in DHI item have been solved successfully and as a result the economic benefit are greatly improved.In addition, through the study for the standard milk-secretion curve model of milch cow, we can simulate and forecast the milk curve of milk cow in the future. In this way, the quantity of the milk output forcastd during the whole milk secretion can be obtained. After comparing the real milk output curve with the standard milk -secretion curve, we can get to know the problems that existed in each period of breeing and management level. For that, we can solve these problems in time and improve our breeding and management of milch cow graduallyThe main purpose to make milch cow'DHI test is to improve the economic benefit of milch cow's breeding, i.e. through the mensuration of the performance of milch cow, we can feed back accurate and reliable information to milch cow fields in time. And then, according to the analysis based on the surveyed data, we can adjust fodder's makeup and the measure for preventing some disease. After using DHI system, we can also update our managing ieda in time andfully excavate the potential of milch cow's production in order to bring it into its best play and create higher economic benefit for breeding farmers.The result of the mensuration for DHI performance is a current international standard used to measure the breeding level of milch cow. Through this performance mensuration of milch cow, we can find the difference between milch cow fields, which can be appraised through comparison of DHI result toward milch cow fields and also can be compared with the milch cow fields abroad in order to meet the international need. |
