Studies On The Resources Of Landscape Plants And The Protection Of Species Biodiversity In City Wuhan

On the bases of related data and the field survey in 85 sites among 7 districts of inner city , 6 districts of suburban area, this paper studied on the protection of species biodiversity of landscape plants in Wuhan City. The results indicated that Wuhan City is rich in the plant resources. Totally, there are 2040 plant species exist in the city area, include 882 woody plant species, among these there are 220 evergreen trees, 248 deciduous trees, 142 evergreen shrubs, 216 deciduous shrubs, 56 woody climbers. In addition, there are 54 bamboo species, 433 flowering plants, 176 turf grasses and groundcovers, 302 medical plants, 96 fern plants, 80 moss species and 17 other kinds of plants. Among all the plant species, there are 32 aged and famous tree species, 74 national protected plants and 51 regional protected plants. Meanwhile, this paper studies on the protection of species biodiversity of landscape plants in city Wuhan by zoning the areas at the levels of city area, city planning area and constructed area and put forward to the framework of biodiversity protection which combining the urban area and suburban area, the inner city and the outskirt of the city. Finally, the author discussed the further work should be done on the protection of the urban biodiversity.
