The Total Report YingJing Wool Rabbits Breeding And Application

The text was devised to summarize techniques of the YingJing wool rabbits breeding and application. The new YingJing giant wool rabbit strain was bred by crossbreeding with YaYing giant wool rabbits(♀) and ZhenHai giant wool rabbits( ♂ ) on open nuclear breeding. The stud rabbits were selected based on comprehensive selection index and records of family. The comprehensive selection index (I=0.0657P₁+8.9378P₂) was defined with BULP based on the wool yield (P₁) and body weight (P₂) on 202 days. The individuals of all above genotypes marked by microsatellite were selected to make up foundational breeding stock based on the comprehensive selection index. The first medium-sized fine wool rabbit strain had been bred after 4 generations breeding in China. The new strain has stable genetic property and consistent appearance. Their performances was following: the adult weight was 4000g( ♂ )and 4500g(♀); The survival number at birth was 6.49 head; The milk yield was 1961g; The rate of survival and individual weights at weaning (45 days) reached 92.0% and 952g. (情期受胎率 92.8%); The wool yield of adult rabbit, wool production rate and feed to wool ratio were 1443g, 36.6% and 39:1. The wool production rate feed to wool were superior than the present strains in China. The coarse wool rate was 13.7% and wool qualities were excellent.Over 100 thousand rabbits of this strain have been popularized in this province and other provinces. All above have exceed the breeding objectives.
